Why does Israel threaten neighbours with nukes?

When Hezbollah destroyed so many of their "invincible" Merkava tanks and sent them scurrying back accross the border during their last incursion in Lebanon they realise that conventional warfare is too costly so they are willing to use their nuclear option. Hezbollah has since aquired a lot of up to date Russian equipment to use if the zionist entity tries to invade again.
